In nature, young chicks seek warmth beneath their mother hen’s feathers. However, many hobby breeders opt for artificial methods like incubators. Once these eggs hatch, the chicks require an alternative heat source. This is where the heating plate comes into play. It proves to be an optimal solution as the chicks instinctively gather beneath it for warmth, mimicking the natural behaviour under a hen. Essentially, the heating plate serves as an excellent stand-in for the mother hen. The chicks adapt quickly to the slightly cooler surroundings of the plate, unlike the warmth from a traditional heating bulb. This rapid acclimatisation aids in their faster adaptation to lower temperatures, promoting quicker feather growth and better resilience against the cold. Overall, the use of a Heating Plate ensures robust and thriving chicks, making it a highly suitable substitute for the nurturing presence of a mother hen.
