Alfalfa – Alfalfa grows in a field and on stems like hay, but the plant is a legume. It’s high in protein, and its fibre is highly digestible. Alfalfa contains calcium, nitrogen, and other vitamins and nutrients. Alfalfa is particularly useful during the moulting season.
Dandelion – Dandelions are high in beneficial fibre as well as vitamins A, B, C, E, and K and are a great source of calcium (beneficial for laying hens) as well as iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc, all of which make it a pretty complete herb. It’s good for general energy building and nutritive tonics.
Coriander – For natural bone support, it is advised to feed coriander to chickens. This plant is rich in vitamin A and K and has several useful antioxidants. In a research study conducted on broiler chicks in 2014, the results showed that the addition of cilantro powder or extract to the chick’s diet resulted in improved performance indices and positive immune system response. It also contributed to a reduction in pathogenic bacteria in the digestive tract, which aids in the improvement of intestinal health and well-being of the bird.
