Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) can work wonders for your chooks – naturally! It can be used to help ward off infection by boosting the immune system.
Unpasteurised is the best. It’s this raw, unprocessed type that contains the “mother”. The “mother” develops during fermentation and is the source of its probiotics – good bacteria – along with vitamins and minerals.
ACV is great for your chickens immune systems, guards against bad bacteria, and maintains digestive health in the intestines by lowering the pH levels. If a chicken’s body is too acidic it is not going to be feeling in top form and may become vulnerable to disease.
Regular doses are one of the easiest ways to prevent your flock from becoming infested with worms, mites, and lice. Essentially, if consumed in safe quantities regularly, apple cider vinegar will begin to seep through your chooks’ skin and repel mites and other pests.
ACV increases calcium (as well as other minerals) absorption so your chickens will get more ‘bang for the buck’ from the layer feed and shell grit you provide them.
